SKIN REJUVENATION

Woman with Hand on Face

Over time, the effects of aging and sun exposure can take their toll, leaving skin imperfections such as wrinkles, fine lines, sun spots, pigmented lesions, uneven skin tone and skin laxity. In addition, skin may lose tone, feel less firm and lose the healthy glow that is evident in younger skin.

Experts say that some start opting for various anti-ageing or skin rejuvenation treatments right from their 20s. This is simply because they not only want to halt ageing, but also wish to save their skin from discoloration, dullness and other kinds of irregularities. These days, extremely sophisticated and high-end  skin rejuvenation techniques are available. The best part about these techniques is, most of these do not require you to go under the knife; insofar as non-invasive or minimally invasive therapies are concerned, you'd indeed be spoilt for choice.

Available treatments:

1. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

PRP Therapy is an increasingly popular injectable procedure amongst both men and women for Facial Rejuvenation, Skin Repair and Hair Restoration.

PRP Therapy is a completely natural procedure which involves extracting patient’s blood, processing it to isolate the platelet-Rich plasma (PRP), then re-injected into strategic areas to encourage healing and renewal through new collagen production and increased growth factors. This in turn creates a more youthful, plumper, and firmer appearing skin.

2. Dermal Fillers

This procedure uses injectable gels that can smoothen wrinkles, iron out lines and folds and fill up scars and other depressions on the skin surface. These fillers act like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity. They also have the capacity to bind large quantities of water and keep the skin firm and supple.

The filler immediately plumps up the area and over a period of 2-4 weeks, will continue to attract water and settle. Depending on age, lifestyle factors and type of filler, results may last anywhere from 3 to 12 months. Keeping your body hydrated will aid in longevity of HA fillers as hyaluronic acid absorbs water from its environment to add to its effect.

3. Ultherapy

Ultherapy uses high intensity focused ultrasound treatment. This non-surgical procedure kickstarts dead collagen. The non-invasive micro-lift can make your skin look several years younger. Ultrasound energy can enter deeper into the skin (than light) and consequently, the rejuvenation process is accelerated.

Results should be noticeable immediately after treatment, with a visible improvement in firmness over 2 to 3 months as the newly generated collagen works to lift and tighten skin.

4. Thermage

The Thermage system® is a non-invasive radiofrequency (RF) therapy that can smooth, tighten and contour skin for an overall younger-looking appearance. One quick treatment (30 to 90 minutes depending on the treatment area) can deliver outstanding results for most patients. Results improve over time and can last for years.

As we age, the collagen that keeps our skin firm breaks down resulting in aging skin that contains fine lines and wrinkles. A Thermage treatment uses radiofrequency technology to heat the deeper, collagen-rich layers of the skin. The applied heat causes collagen to contract and encourages new collagen to start growing. This helps create smoother skin after just one treatment with results that continue to improve.

For most patients, measurable results appear gradually in the two to six months following a single treatment session and can last for 1-2 years depending on your skin condition and aging process. Most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment. No special care is required afterward, aside from basic skin maintenance and sunscreens as part of a regular skincare regimen.
